Young Life Cut Short

Facebook photo Facebook photo Police responding to a Saturday night 911 call of shots fired at NYCHA’s Linden Houses found the body of a dead teen.

The victim, Clayton Hemingway, was discovered lying in front of the 245 Wortman Avenue apartment building where he lived. According to NYPD, the 16-year-old was found around 7:45 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. EMS workers rushed Hemingway to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made and there is an ongoing investigation.

Linden Houses was in the news a little over a year ago, when in September 2016, a man and woman were shot inside and outside of 185 Wortman Avenue. The two bystanders were caught in a gun battle (see “Gunman Injured Two, Still On The Loose,” Canarsie Courier, September 22, 2016, page 5).
