The 69th Precinct Community Council held their 3rd Annual Fundraiser on Thursday evening at the Liberty Hall Cathedral of Praise, 1387 East 96th Street, to raise money for various projects within the Canarsie community. Funds have gone to past projects such as:

•Stop the Violence March

•Free Summer Youth Basketball Program

•Free Summer Youth Drama Program

•Removal of abandoned vehicles from community driveways

•Toy distribution to over 150 boys and girls

"Our organization hosts many events for the benefit of the community,” stated Council President Gardy Brazela. “Some of our accomplishments included inviting the NY Fire Department to conduct fire safety seminars for members of the community. We also conducted a job fair in January that resulted in eight members of our community gaining employment and had the Deputy Building Department Commissioner come out and educate people on how to lawfully convert their basement apartments."
