On Tuesday, March 7th, Chabad of Canarsie and Starrett City sponsored a fondant demo for women and girls at its pre-Purim baking event. The demonstration, held at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center, 660 Louisiana Avenue, was well-attended with bakers of all skill levels coming out for a night of fun, learning and, of course, desserts. The cookies and cakes baked that night were given out on Purim in keeping with the holiday’s traditions. Fondant is an edible icing used to decorate cakes and pastries. It is made from sugar, water and glycerol.
