Gun Violence Rocks Breukelen Houses

Photo by Lloyd Mitchell Photo by Lloyd Mitchell Ten days after a double shooting - killing one - on East 84th Street, another shooting in Canarsie left one man dead on Wednesday.

Officers from the 69th Precinct responded to a 911 call around 2:20 p.m. of a male shot inside 553 East 108th Street, near Stanley Avenue. Police said they found an unidentified 58-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his torso. EMS brought the victim to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers canvassed the area outside Breukelen Houses, searching for clues and the murder weapon.

As of press time, the victim’s name was not released, pending family notification.

There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
