The annual “Love Your Block” event, held last Saturday at Breukelen Houses, was a huge success. Long time tenants, PSA1 Explorers and Girl Scouts troops 2101, 2102 and 2104 were eager to participate in planting and cleaning parts of the park areas on East 108th Street near Farragut Road.

The event was made possible through the “Love Your Block” grant, which was awarded to the development by the Citizens Committee for NYC. The Parks Department, Department of Transportation and other city agencies also contributed to the grant.

This was the third year that participants “beautified” their community. Every year a different section of Breukelen Houses is chosen to be restored. Everyone was proud to come out and make a difference and all the organizations involved hope to carry on the tradition next year.
