Photo by Michael Glenn A Brooklyn man was arrested for hitting and allegedly killing a 53- year-old who was walking in Sheepshead Bay on Saturday, June 15th. According to reports, Karin Eberts-Ayub was found unconscious near Bragg Street just after 3 in the morning. When police from the 61st Precinct arrived at the scene, Eberts- Ayub was unresponsive and Emergency Medical Services found various wounds on her body.

Upon investigation, police determined that the woman was struck by a 2012 Ford Fusion, driven by 25- year-old Steven Calandrillo, who was driving westbound on Shore Parkway at Bragg Street. Calandrillo allegedly struck Eberts-Ayub, who was standing on the sidewalk at the time, and then he drove into a nearby tree. While Calandrillo was taken to Lutheran Hospital and was listed in stable condition, Eberts-Ayub died immediately at the scene. Calandrillo was arrested earlier this week on charges of manslaughter, speeding, driving while intoxicated and criminally negligent homicide.
