NYPD Captain Arrested On Assault Charge
An NYPD captain who serves at the Police Academy was arrested at the 63rd Precinct Tuesday and charged with assault and menacing after allegedly pushing a family member during a dispute.
According to Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes, Captain Daniel Sosnowik of East 35th Street in East Flatbush, grabbed the female family member, said to be his wife, during the course of an argument Monday night and pushed her into a doorway, causing her to be wedged between the doorway and a wall.
Assistant District Attorney Ruth Talansky, representing Hynes, said the victim informed her that Sosnowik repeatedly opened and closed the door on her arm, “causing her to suffer bruising to the arm and substantial pain.”
The officer was also charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, the victim’s son, who is under the age of 17 and witnessed the alleged assault.
