Last week, staff members at P.S. 279 hosted a group of police officers from the 69th Precinct in a friendly basketball game used as a fundraiser for the school. Particularly, Erica Feliciano, a fifth grade teacher at the grammar school, said they hope to raise enough funds, through sales of refreshments, to replace basketballs lost as a result of a flood to the school’s basement caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Feliciano went on to say that the school has reached out to a local sporting goods store, but they have not heard back from anyone yet.

Although Team P.S. 279 played tough, the 69th Precinct proved to be too much for the opposition, as it prevailed, 55-43.
