These Youngsters Are Going To Keep On Truckin’!

It’s not easy being a city worker – but a handful of generous blue collar employees brought their famous trucks to the parking lot opposite the Hebrew Educational Society last Friday for Truck Day. Children who attend the center’s Pre-K program got a special visit from officials representing the FDNY, Department of Transportation, Department of Sanitation and New York Mass Transit Authority.

Alessandra Long, Early Childhood Director, said the fun filled day gave kids a chance to see what it’s like “driving” the big city trucks. It was also an educational experience, which taught them about street safety. The most fun part of the day, many children said, was meeting firefighters from the local firehouse and seeing their bright red truck. Unfortunately, New York’s Bravest were called to duty several times during their visit, proving that riding the big rigs is a never-ending job!
