“Hope And A Future”: A Celebration Of Haiti


Photos by Dave Lewin Photos by Dave Lewin The launch of Haitian Heritage Month kicked off at the Christian Cultural Center, located at 12020 Flatlands Avenue, on Friday, May 10th. The event showcased the ever present need to rebuild Haiti after an earthquake decimated the country three years ago. Community2Community Chief Executive Officer, Marie- Yolaine Eusebe, said, “The most pressing challenge that Haiti faces moving forward is clean water.” The celebration highlighted the story of water and its importance to the nation through music, food, art, dance and performances by several organizations. Councilman Jumaane Williams said, “With a modest investment of resources, we can address the cholera outbreak and provide clean water for every Haitian, the basic cornerstone of a good society.”
