Youngster Among Those Almost Killed In East Flatbush Crash

By Dara Mormile

Nearly a dozen were injured and a three-year-old boy is now clinging to life as a result of a car accident Saturday that took place at Utica Avenue in East Flatbush.

The driver of a four-door sedan reportedly plowed into a bus stop near Church and Utica avenues, injuring pedestrians who were taken to nearby hospitals.

The incident happened at around 6:45 that evening, when the driver was trying to avoid another car in front of her, police said. Instead, she drove into a B46 bus stop, where there was scaffolding in front of a building under which she was pinned.

Witnesses said there was blood all over the sidewalk and the youngest victim was Denim McClean, who, at press time, remains brain dead and may not recover from his injuries. His mother, Wendy McClean, was also injured and is is a partial coma.

The 48-year-old sedan driver, along with her cousin – who was in the passenger’s seat – was also injured but was not charged following the horrific accident.
