Harbor Police pulled what appeared to be a black female from one of the docks. They wrapped, placed and secured her on a rescue board before carrying off her body. While it was not confirmed, an eyewitness said the body was clothed in jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. At the scene, police and EMS were overheard saying the body was “not in good shape.”

The grisly 3:30 p.m. discovery apparently was phoned into police by a retail worker while on a break. As the scene first unfolded, bystanders weren’t initially sure of the gender. The finding happened shortly after kids were heading home from school. Curious parents peered into the marina, looking through the gate and trying to catch a glimpse.

Unidentified body was found floating behind Walgreens on Avenue U. Unidentified body was found floating behind Walgreens on Avenue U. As of press time, the identity and age of the victim – as well as the circumstances surrounding her death – remained unknown pending an examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the investigation by the NYPD.
