Glenwood Houses Man Shot To Death

By Sam Akhtar

A tranquil Saturday evening turned violent when a black male was shot multiple times on September 15th at the Glenwood Houses at approximately 9:36 p.m.

Police identified the victim as 38- year-old Bersheen Ward, a resident of 5802 Farragut Road. According to sources, Ward was sitting on a bench getting some air that Saturday evening when two unidentified white males ran up and shot him.

However, it remained unclear if one or both of the white males shot the victim. A source indicated one of the unidentified men apparently wore a red hoodie and the pair was said to have fled in an unidentified car.

Ward, who apparently worked as a security officer at a clothing store, was allegedly shot several times in the neck, lower back and torso. He was taken to Kings County Hospital and subsequently died from gunshot wounds.

Coincidentally, earlier this summer, 26-year-old Quentin Fulcher was a victim of gun violence, also in the Glenwood Houses at 5802 Farragut Road. On or about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 7th, Fulcher was repeatedly shot in the upper torso and in both legs. The young man was found lying on a pathway near his home just behind a playground. EMS paramedics took him to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A week later, a memorial was held just outside the community center steps away from his home where family and friends remembered him as a tough, yet helpful man.

There have been no official arrests in either shooting and investigations are currently ongoing. Anyone with tips or information is asked to call 1- 800-577-TIPS or by texting: 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577, or by calling the 63rd Precinct at 718-258- 4411.
