P.S. 115 Kids Have A Field Day At Canarsie Park

By Dara Mormile

Jumping hurdles to first place Jumping hurdles to first place There may have been some future athletes at Canarsie Park Tuesday morning when P.S. 115’s fourth grade held its annual field day. The five events tested students’ endurance and their ability to have a healthy competition.

Each first place winner received 10 points for their class and each second place winner received seven points. The class with the most points won the 2012 Field Day trophy.

The East 92nd Street school hosts the sporting event at the end of every school year.

Competitions included hurdles, the 50-yard dash, the 200-yard race, the boys “marathon” race, and the 4 x 50 yard baton relay. Cheers of school spirit could also be heard from the sidelines as each race got underway. The staff was proud that students put so much effort and energy into the day’s events and that everyone was pumped to get ahead in each of the competitions.
