What's Your Opinion?

Compiled by Bill O’Neill

QUESTION: Last week a federal court judge said she would allow a class action lawsuit against the NYPD’s stop and frisk procedures because 85 percent of those who were stopped are black or Latino. What are your thoughts on the judge’s decision?

“The police should be sued. It’s a violation of a person’s rights. I’ve been stopped and frisked — and I’m Caucasian.” –Robert DeCarlo, Canarsie “The police should be sued. It’s a violation of a person’s rights. I’ve been stopped and frisked — and I’m Caucasian.” –Robert DeCarlo, Canarsie

“We should be allowed to sue them. And if we can’t sue them, then the officers should be the ones to face charges for discrimination. What officers are doing is a systemic racist attempt to keep people of color in low status by giving us police records.” –Gino Brown, Bedford Stuyvesant “We should be allowed to sue them.
