Dem Loss In Brooklyn

Editor’s note: The following letter was sent to the Canarsie Courier from Senator Diane Savino (D-Staten Island, Bensonhurst, Coney Island):

“I wish to clarify what has been attributed to me in this week’s column (Hometown View From Albany- March 29) by Marc Gronich. I am not now, nor have I ever been, of the opinion that Lew Fidler’s campaign manager or his staff or volunteers were in any way responsible for the outcome of this campaign. In fact, I told the reporter that the results are not a reflection of them at all, but a reflection of the failure of the Senate Democrats and the Democratic Senate Campaign Commitee (DSCC). It is disingenuous to insinuate otherwise.

“In addition, I very clearly shared with the interviewer that Lew Fidler was not well served by them, particularly since he was dealing with a personal illness and that if they had a clear message, a rationale for a Democratic win and an awareness that this was turbulent territory, they might have performed better.”
