What's Your Opinion?

QUESTION: The Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) recently discussed changing the “Off Duty” lights on top of yellow cabs to better indicate if drivers are making passenger pick ups. Do you think it’s a good idea for the TLC to invest in new signs? Why or why not?
Compiled by Bill O’Neill

“They should keep the present “Off Duty” sign up there because that’s the only way to know if a cab is ready for service. Cabs turn over shifts and there are about twelve thousand in the city – so it’s good to know when they are actually available for service.” –Eradzh Sattorov, Midwood “They should keep the present “Off Duty” sign up there because that’s the only way to know if a cab is ready for service. “Definitely changes are positive because it’s confusing the way they have it now. I’ve been in that situation before when you think the cab is on duty, but’s off duty.” –Tafarri Saunders, Canarsie “Definitely changes are positive because it’s confusing the way they have it now. “I don’t think it’s neccessary to invest in that money because they can use the money to improve some of the other things that are important for service.” –Katyana Rene, Canarsie “I don’t think it’s neccessary to invest in that money because they can use the money to improve some of the other things that are important for service.” –Katyana Rene, Canarsie

“I think they should invest in new signs because some cabs are too deceptive. You don’t know if they are available or not.” –Joseph Jones, Canarsie “I think they should invest in new signs because some cabs are too deceptive. You don’t know if they are available or not.” –Joseph Jones, Canarsie
