Local Robotics Whizzes Meet Space Shuttle Astronauts



It’s not often that you’re called upon to rub shoulders with somebody who has been to outer space and back, but last week the above three youngsters — the FIRST Robotics Team from William Grady High School were conversationalist with none other than Astronaut Commander Chris Ferguson, who was a member of the last space shuttle crew. The robotics teams, included Team 369 from Brooklyn, Team 11 from Mount Olive, Team 353 from Plainview and Team 694 from Manhattan. Space shuttle members present included Ferguson, Doug Hurley, Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim. The event took place at a private luncheon at the Eventi Hotel in Manhattan.
