What's Your Opinion?

QUESTION: A group of 65,000 pediatricians recently said that fast food ads on TV contribute to weight problems for American youth and should be banned in children's programming. Do you think there should be a ban? Briefly explain.
Compiled by Bill O’Neill

“Maybe banning the ads would help the kids eat better. If the kids see the ads, that makes them only want the food more. And most of the kids are overweight due to the fast food.” –Shray Little, Canarsie “Maybe banning the ads would help the kids eat better. “Yes, I think they should. These kids can’t even walk nowadays with all that weight. Stopping the ads might cut back on all the future problems for the kids like diabetes.” –James Spicer, Canarsie “Yes, I think they should. These kids can’t even walk nowadays with all that weight. “We live in a consumer-oriented society in which everything that is advertised is not necessarily good for you. So if they made fast food healthier, then fine. Otherwise, the ads should be banned.” –Dawn Lawrence, Queens “We live in a consumer-oriented society in which everything that is advertised is not necessarily good for you. “Childhood obesity has become an epidemic in this country. The ads should be taken off the air. And the government should put more money into serving healthy food in schools. That would be the #1 way to stop the obesity problem.” –Nikolai Chkenkeli, Canarsie “Childhood obesity has become an epidemic in this country. The ads should be taken off the air.
