Rep. Towns Rallies With Workers Over Health Coverage At Brookdale Hospital
Congressman Edolphus ‘Ed” Towns addressed Brookdale University Hospital workers ( 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers) last Friday at a rally outside of the facility on Rockaway Parkway. The dispute between the union and Brookdale is over the failure of Brookdale Hospital management to make payments for health coverage. In a statement released last week, Towns put his support behind the protesters. “These workers entered into a good faith contract and it is the responsibility of the State Department of Health to see to it that every effort is made to resolve this dispute in favor of the workers and the community,” he said.
