Arrest Suspect In Fatal Stabbing Of Super Collecting Rent

Charles Rogers

Police from the 63rd Precinct last week arrested a man who allegedly stabbed to death a boarding house superintendent who was trying to collect rent money from him on behalf of the landlord.

According to a spokesman for NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne, Errol Irving, 40, of East 51st Street was arrested the day after the body of Shayne Sinclair, 40, was found at the bottom of a flight of stairs on Saturday, February 5th at about 10:30 p.m. The spokesman said the victim had been stabbed and was either thrown or fell down a flight of stairs.

Sinclair had gone to the house, near Avenue L in Flatlands, apparently as a favor to the landlord, who said the tenant had been in arrears on his rent, sources said.

Sinclair was taken to Brookdale Hospital late Saturday and was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
