Photos by Charles Rogers The brother of an East 94th Street home owner was arrested by fire marshals last Monday after he allegedly set fire to the house as a result of a dispute the siblings had, police said.

According to a report from NYFD spokesman Frank Dwyer, the fire was called at 4:33 p.m. and was listed as “all hands,” entailing the use of multiple engine and ladder companies from the local vicinity, as well as outer portions of the borough. No one was injured, Dwyer said, and the fire was under control by 5:03 p.m., but not before considerable damage was done to the house.

Patrol officers from the 69th Precinct said they were approached at the scene by the home owner, Kevin Serrao, 32, who told them he called 911 to report the fire after he and his brother, Dwayne, 33, had an argument and the older brother warned that he was “going to burn the house down.” Kevin said Dwayne then began to light “several pieces of paper” and throw them on a bed, eventually igniting the bed itself. Kevin said as much as he tried to put out the flames, he couldn’t and he had to call 911.

Firefighters had to shatter all windows because of thick smoke from fire. Home owner’s brother was accused of setting it during an argument.
