Charles Rogers A lone attacker forced his way past the resident of a home on East 83rd street at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25th, struck the resident in the head with what he later said was a “blunt metal object,” and robbed the man’s safe.

Police from the 69th Precinct said the man called them after the home invader left and told them that the person knocked on his door and when he opened it, pushed his way in, struck him and yelled, “Where’s the safe at?” The victim took the man into a bedroom in the rear of the house where the safe was located and gave the thief the combination. The man opened the safe and took out approximately $6,000 in cash and then fled from the house, apparently on foot, in an unknown direction.

When police arrived, the victim was treated at the scene for lacerations to the head and subsequently taken to Brookdale Hospital for further treatment.

Local detectives, together with officers from the Brooklyn Robbery Squad are currently investigating the case. Anyone with information is asked to call them at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
