Chinese Food Deliveryman Is Stabbed While Making Delivery
Police from the 69th Precinct on patrol duty said they were informed that an incident had occurred and rushed to the scene to be met by the victim, who was bleeding profusely from his left arm.
The victim, an employee of the Lucky Restaurant on Avenue L, said he was getting off his bicycle at about 3 p.m. and was preparing to make his delivery when he was approached by a male Hispanic, approximately 22 years old. He told police that the man pulled a knife from his belt and pushed the victim into a nearby driveway, saying, “Give me your money!” at which time the victim handed him approximately $82 in cash. The man also took his Samsung cell phone and the victim’s bicycle.
As the deliveryman started to protest, the thief attempted to stab him in the face with his knife, but the victim put his hands up to block the knife and was cut deeply on the arm. The thief then got on the bicycle and fled north on East 94th Street towards Avenue K.
Police said they called for medical assistance and the victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital by Emergency Medical Service ambulance. Anyone with information is asked to call the 69th Precinct Detective Squad at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1- 800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential. Charles Rogers
