SEAVIEW McDONALD’S ROBBED AT GUNPOINT
A thief bent on robbing the Mc- Donald’s Restaurant at 2028 Rockaway Parkway, near Seaview Avenue, bought himself a sandwich, paid for it, and then pulled a gun and robbed the store of about $1,200, police said.
The incident happened shortly before 10 p.m. last Monday, according to reports from the 69th Precinct when the thief entered the restaurant and stood in line while other customers were being served at the counter. As soon as it came to his turn, he ordered a sandwich and paid for it, but as soon as the cashier opened the cash register, the man pulled a gun from his pocket and jumped over the counter, ordering all of the workers to “stay back,” according to witnesses. He then turned to the cashier and took all the cash from her drawer — amounting to approximately $600.
When the robber first entered the restaurant, he apparently saw the store manager counting receipts from another cash register. Later, after taking money from the first register, he went over to the manager’s register and took the money from there, approximately another $600 in cash.
Witnesses said the man fled from the store on foot and headed north up Rockaway Parkway.
The thief was described as black, about five-feet, nine-inches tall, medium build and wearing an orange hat and an orange polo shirt. Police said there were no injuries to customers or staff at the restaurant. A canvass of the area was conducted with negative results, police said.
