Borough Prez Brings In Spring Like A Cyclone

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz takes a great amount of delight in such events as cutting ribbons, opening restaurants, officiating at grand openings and even being a principal ingrediuent for weddings. That’s why, when it came time to be the “official” official on hand at the opening of the famous Cyclone at Coney Island, he was the first in line with the scissors, ready to do the ribbon cutting (left photo). Of course, he wound up being one of the authorized “starters” too (right photo).. There was a huge crowd on hand for the event, all ready to take the introductory ride on the popular roller coaster, from models to schoolkids to, well, borough presidents. The youngsters were looking forward to going on some other rides too, but they hadn’t opened yet. “Soon enough,” Markowitz was heard to say, “we’ll all be standing in line at Nathan’s Famous.”
