Police Officer Charged With DWI In Mill Basin Death
      The daughter of the pastor of a church on Rogers Avenue was struck and killed on Avenue N near East 56th Street in Mill Basin early Sunday by a car driven by an off-duty police officer who was accused of driving while intoxicate (DWI), police said.

New Sex Offender Law Provides E-Mail Updates

      Canarsie’s first police precinct (left) was located in Willett’s Hotel. The jail cells were on the first floor and the police station and court room were on the second. A wood-frame stationhouse on the north side of Avenue G (Glenwood Road) midway between East 94 and East 95 Street was built in 1894.

Bargain Hunters Flock To Bay View Flea Market
      They came, they saw, they haggled, they bought. Scores of people came by the annual Bay View Flea Market, held along Rockaway Parkway adjacent to the public housaing project last Saturday. From handbags to homemade jewelry to knicknacks, vendors offered an array of merchandise to bargain-hunting consumers, some who bought dozens of quality items at reasonable prices.

Volunteers Littorally Clean Up Beach At Canarsie Pier
      As part of the American Littoral Society’s 24th Annual International Coastal Cleanup last month, conducted at over 300 beaches across New York State, a group of volunteers converged on the beach adjacent to Canarsie Pier last Saturday to collect and remove trash and other debris that had accumulated there over the summer.
