      QUESTION: When the pilot of an international commercial jet carrying 247 passengers died while in flight last week, the passengers were not informed of the emergency until after the co-pilot landed the plane safely some six hours later. Some passengers complained that they were not advised of the emergency until after the landing.

      Dear Editor: Now that schools are closing, a word of thanks to all our School Crossing Guards for doing a wonderful job getting kids safely back and forth to their schools. It can be a dangerous job and they are out there — rain or shine!
