What's Your Opinion?

Compiled by Bill O'Neill

QUESTION: DO YOU THINK DONALD TRUMP, WHO RUNS THE BEAUTY PAGEANT, SHOULD HAVE "FIRED" MISS CALIFORNIA FROM THE MISS UNIVERSE CONTEST AFTER HER REMARKS OPPOSED TO GAY MARRIAGE AND/OR THE DISCLOSURE THAT SHE ONCE POSED FOR SEMI-NUDE PHOTOS? WHY OR WHY NOT?

"She should have been fired. Absolutely. Her comments on gay marriage were her personal opinion. It shouldn't be what represents Miss Universe. The semi-nude photos are absolutely inappropriate. Miss Universe is supposed to be classy, someone little girls can look up to." - Erica B. Canarsie "She should have been fired. Absolutely. Her comments on gay marriage were her personal opinion. Canarsie "I would say no. The first part she's expressing her freedom of speech. It's a moral issue for her - and you can accept it or reject it. As for the semi-nude photos, she said they were doctored. Plus, this is 2009. C'mon, anything goes nowadays. No harm, no foul." - Victor Capella, East New York "I would say no. And if there wasn't a regulation against semi-nude photos by the pageant, she shouldn't be punished for that either." - Howie Tenenbaum, Canarsie "No, he shouldn't have fired her for expressing her opinion. I think the gay marriage comment was okay. She wasn't standing on a soapbox making a strong statement. Plus, th semi-nude photos, if I were that gorgeous, I'd probably do it, too. It's 2009." - Laraine Giordano, Canarsie "I say good for Donald Trump. I think the gay marriage comment was okay. She wasn't standing on a soapbox making a strong statement. You shouldn't take that out of context. And the semi-nude photos are no reason to be fired. They were taken before the pageant." - Bill Stephens, Canarsie "She shouldn't be fired. Freedom of speech. They were taken before the pageant." - Bill Stephens, Canarsie "First of all, I think gay people should have the right to get married. She had no right to make that statement. And secondly, she should have represented herself more appropriately than semi-nude photos. So for those reasons, I think she should have been fired." - Daniell Wilson, Canarsie "First of all, I think gay people should have the right to get married. She had no right to make that statement. And secondly, she should have represented herself more appropriately than semi-nude photos. So for those reasons, I think she should have been fired." - Daniell Wilson, Canarsie "I think she should be fired for the gay marriage comment and the semi-nude photos. She misrepresented gay people and exploited femininity. That's ignorant." - Tamilla Kernizant, Canarsie "I think she should be fired for the gay marriage comment and the semi-nude photos. She misrepresented gay people and exploited femininity. That's ignorant." - Tamilla Kernizant, Canarsie "I guess no, because everyone is entitled to their opinion. And the semi-nude photos are not relevant to the pageant. That's her personal business. Why bring it up?" - James R., Canarsie "I guess no, because everyone is entitled to their opinion.
