Marine Park Students Get Special Reading Motivation
Fidler and King read to dozens of students at P.S. 207 and spoke about the joy and knowledge that comes from reading and also emphasized the value of a good education. "The lifelong value of helping our youth to build strong reading skills can not be overstated," Fidler said. "By utilizing a creative approach, programs such as 'Read to Achieve' capture students' interest and put a positive spin on reading. It's truly a win-win situation, where the kids are learning and having fun at the same time." "It is wonderful to see Councilman Fidler and Albert King dedicating their time to encourage these young students to grow into strong readers," said Bruce Ratner, FCRC Chairman and CEO. "Reading is fundamental to a child's education and future success and I am thankful to the Councilman and Albert for supporting the 'Read to Achieve' program."
"Read to Achieve" is the NBA's year-round campaign to help young people develop a life-long love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. Reaching an estimated 50 million children a year, "Read to Achieve" is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports.
