What's Your Opinion?
Compiled by Bill O'Neill

Question: In light of the fact thaT COMMUNITY BOARD MEMBERS VOTE ON EVERYTHING FROM CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS TO GARBAGE COLLECTION HOURS, THE CITY COUNCIL RECENTLY INTRODUCED LEGISLATION ALLOWING MEMBERS' AGES TO BE LOWERED FROM 18 TO 16. WHAT DO YOU THINK AND WHY?

"I think that's a good idea. You get kids involved at a young age, they might start taking some pride in their community." - Gerald Lee, Canarsie
"I think it's super because it gives kids the chance to learn, to grow and to prosper. It helps out the kids and helps out the community." - Lisa Perez, Canarsie
"I think it has its pros and cons. It's good because it gets kids to start doing something productive. But the negative aspect is that the kids might be too young to take on that responsibility." - Sonia Huntley, Canarsie
"I think it's good because they have a right to have their opinions heard and acknowledged. Sixteen is old enough for people to know what they want and what their opinions are." - Yi Ting Cheng, Queens
