Cops Catch Suspect In Breukelen Houses Murder
The 58-year-old victim, who resides in Elmont, was visiting a friend in an apartment in the project at 533 East 108th Street at about 8 a.m. when he was apparently lured outside to the parking lot by a group of men with whom he had been arguing. He returned to the apartment for a moment and, according to witnesses, he then went outside again where the argument continued. According to NYPD spokesman Phillip Filippaz-zos, the dispute heated up and one of the men confronted the victim with a gun. He fired it "at least seven times," the spokesman said, "striking the victim in the torso and legs." Then the shooter and his three accomplices fled in a green car, witnesses said. Emergency Medical Service paramedics took the man to Brookdale Hospital and he was pronounced dead as a result of his wounds an hour later. Although police have the shooting suspect in custody, they ask that anyone who might have more information on the case to call them at (718) 257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.
