A 19-year-old narsie resident was shot in the leg shortly after he left a baby shower held at a Remsen Avenue restaurant early last Sunday, police said.

The victim, Teddy Jaudy, told police he left the Mahogany Palace Restaurant at 922 Remsen Avenue - formerly the Higher And Higher Night Club - at about 2:30 a.m. on March 16 after attending a baby shower for a friend. He was walking to another friend's car that was parked nearby and, when he got to a Getty gas station at 914 Remsen Avenue, at the corner of Avenue D, he said he heard "about five shots go off," at which time he began to run through the service station lot.

Just as he stopped running, the friend who owned the car picked him up and, as he was getting into the car, he felt a pain in his leg and realized he had been shot in the thigh. His friend took him to the Brookdale Hospital Emergency Ward, where it was discovered a bullet had entered the rear of his right thigh and came out the front. Jaudy was treated for the wound and released.

Meanwhile, police inspected the area in front of the upstairs restaurant and canvassed along the street with negative results.

The Higher and Higher club went out of business a few years ago after having its liquor license suspended a number of times because of constant violations. Police said the Mahogany Club does not serve liquor and has a clean record.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the local detective squad at 1-718-257-6215 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. All callls will be kept confidential.
