Auto Show Set To Open At Javits Center With Array Of New Cars

This Dodge ZEOConcept, features an electric-only propulsion system that includes a lithium battery pack, will be on display at the auto show.
New York City is no stranger to start-ing trends and shaping opinions, so it is no surprise that the world's auto-makers have pulled out all the stops to show off some of the most amazing concept cars and trucks ever seen at the 2008 New York International Auto-mobile Show. The show runs from March 21-30 at the Jacob K. Javits Conven-tion Center in Manhattan.

With an emphasis on new styling, technology and the environment, this year's stunning new concept cars offer a glimpse into the future, and perhaps a look at what we might be driving in the years ahead.

Here's a run-down of some of this year's hottest concept cars expected in New York:

Honda Clarity FCX: The FCX Clarity is a next-generation, zero-emis-sions, hydrogen-powered fuel cell ve-hicle based on the entirely-new Honda V Flow fuel cell platform, and powered by the highly compact, efficient and powerful Honda V Flow fuel cell stack.

Mitsubishi i MiEV Sport: Based on the i MiEV, the pinnacle of Mitsu-bishi Motors's environmental technology, the i MiEV SPORT maximizes the sporty possibilities of the zero-emissions electric vehicle. The high power and environmental performance of its electric motors make it an exhilarating drive that delivers superior environmen-tal performance.

Chrysler ecoVoyager: ecoVoyager is a four-door, four-passenger distinctively American design concept for customers seeking elegance and serenity. The Chrysler ecoVoyager features an advanced lithium-ion battery pack, along with a small, advanced hydrogen fuel cell that serves as a range extender. The result is a vehicle with a total range of more than 300 miles.

Ford Verve: Verve is a bold and so-phisticated concept vehicle that delivers new levels of quality, design and comfort in a small car and adds sophis-ticated electronics, premium materials, surprising functional space and a fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engine to complete the package.

Cadillac CTS Coupe: Cadillac takes its acclaimed Art and Science design language to new levels with the introduction of the CTS Coupe. The Coupe is designed to accommodate a range of engines for the global luxury market, including Cadillac's popular 3.6L Di-rect Injection V-6, as well as a new 2.9L turbo-diesel currently in development. The concept can drive 300 miles on a single fill of hydrogen- with 280 miles from hydrogen and 20 miles on pure, battery electric energy.

Land Rover LRX: Described as a cross-coupé, the three-door LRX hy-brid concept is powered by a 2.0-liter, turbo diesel hybrid and is designed to appeal to anyone who wants the versatile ability of an agile SUV with the cachet of the Land Rover name.

GMC Denali XT: The Denali XT is a muscular performance-styled, hybrid sport-utility truck (SUT) powered by a 4.9 liter V8 featuring fuel-saving technologies such as direct-injection technology, Active Fuel Management and includes the first combination of GM's two-mode hybrid system with an E85 ethanol-capable engine. The engine is matched with GM's unique two-mode hybrid propulsion system, giving the powerful SUT exceptional fuel economy and uncompromising capability- including all-electric drive at low speeds.

Kicking off the springtime selling season, the 2008 New York Interna-tional Auto Show will feature an im-pressive collection of cutting-edge design and remarkable innovation. More than four floors of displays from the world's automakers will feature the newest vehicles and futuristic concept cars. More than 1,000 cars and trucks will be on display at the Javits Center, filing 846,000 square feet of exhibit space.
