"Police Officer" Shot In Starrett City Domestic Dispute

Media reports indicated a Starrett City resident, believed to be a police officer, was shot in the leg during a dispute with his wife early Friday,

According to a spokesperson for NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne, police from the 75th Precinct were called to the Vandalia Avenue home of Anthony McCloud, 25, to find he had been shot in the right leg. He was taken immediately to Kings County Hospital by Emergency Medical Service ambulance and listed in stable condition.

McCloud's wife, Lanice, 23, was arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, allegedly her husband's gun. Although published reports indicated the victim is a police officer, that fact was not confirmed by NYPD authorities.

Neighbors were quoted as saying the couple had been arguing since about 3 a.m. and one told the Daily News that the argument was "really loud…and then it stopped." Police were called to the scene at approximately 8:25 a.m. Charles Rogers
