Weiner's Middle Class Pitch
Among the issues Rep. Anthony Weiner spoke about at Kingsborough Community College's Leadership Breakfast on Monday was continued criticism of Mayor Bloomberg's congestion pricing plan he says would cost the city millions in federal transportation aid. The congressman, whose district encompasses parts of Canarsie, warned that the federal government would slash federal aid to the city if the plan succeeds. Instead, he suggested that the federal government take a greater role in funding mass transit improvements through a national gas tax. He also outlined his solutions for lower health care costs, ways to strengthen the city's public schools and measures to protect New York's middle class.
