Local Schools Celebrate Black History Month

The spirit of Black History Month was alive and well in local schools last week, as two of them - Isaac Bildersee I.S. 68 and Curtis Estabrook Public School 272 - marked the event with evenings of entertainment for family, friends and staff of the respective schools.
P.S. 272 featured a rousing production of "It Takes A Village To Raise A Child," produced and directed by second grade teacher Shaunda Hester, who second graders performed like pros.
I.S. 68 students were treated to a special performance by the Tuft University Third Day Gospel Choir. Students from the three academies at the junior high school then read poetry and recited monologues.
