Letters to the Editor
Canarsie On TV!

Editor:

The Brooklyn Community Access Television Media (BCAT Channel 69) recently featured Canarsie on its "Neighborhood Beat" program.

Ron Schweiger, the chronicler of Brooklyn, toured some of our community's treasures. Walking through some of Canarsie's streets, he showed us historic churches and Canarsie Pier. The tour took us to Sonny's Hero shop, some young people at play, and a working day at the Canarsie Courier.

With the time allotted, Mr. Schweiger didn't have the opportunity to show us Canarsie Cemetery's graves of famous Brooklynites or the Hebrew Educational Society serving so many in so many ways. We didn't get to see all the marina, nature preserve, and many parks in our vast community.

But we did see Editor Chuck Rogers, Features Editor Neil S. Friedman and Reporter Dara Mormile give insight to publishing our community newspaper. And Mr. Schweiger did show our young people helping other children, giving us insight to the humanity still found in our community.

Sincerely,

Gerry C. Weiner
