New Gate For BayView Trash Area

Assemblyman Alan Maisel (above) recently responded to complaints from BayView Houses residents and others in the vicinity of East 102nd Street and Seaview Avenue that the garbage storage area near the housing project was not gated, and provided easy access for outsiders to dump trash there. He said intruders were using the area, near P.S. 272, to dump everything from used tires to mattresses, furniture and household waste. At the legislator's urging, a new gate was installed to prevent unauthgorized dumping. Maisel said, "the installation of the gate will improve the aesthetic appearance of the site and the quality of life for the residents." He added he is "very grateful" that the city responded so quickly.
