Question: The Department of education has distributed reward money between $4,000-$120,000 to the 134 schools throughout the city that recorded an "A" grade on their report cards. How do you think that money should be spent?
 | | "I think they should put it towards funding for the sports program. Put it towards the teachers - maybe increase their salaries. Also, buy new books and supplies."
- Andrew Cruz, Canarsie |
|
 | | "After school programs, physical education and computer classes. Give kids an opportunity to do what they want to do rather than just follow the daily curriculum."
- Ed Kratt, Canarsie |
|
 | | "They should use it to fix up the schools, the gymnasium, the lunchroom and food program, increase school safety, decorate the school - stuff like that."
- Andre Rivers, Brownsville |
|
 | | "As a PTA president, first of all, I don't think only schools with an A grade should be getting extra money. That's not fair. All the kids, whether their school got an A, B, C or D grade are entitled to a better education. And that money should be used for books and supplies, health classes and to prepare students to move onto their next level of education."
