Gas Station Robberies Continue — With A Twist
According to officials from the local detective squad, two men have been robbing stations within an area involving Remsen, Foster and Ralph avenues and, last Friday at about 11:30 p.m. hit the service station at 914 Remsen Avenue.
Whereas in previous cases the two bandits were apparently on foot, this time they were in a car, police said.
The station's attendant said he was alone in a booth when the two men pulled up in a car, with one man driving and the other in the right rear back seat. The attendant went to the driver's side and was told to give them $20 worth of gas. As the attendant turned his back, the second man jumped out of the rear door of the vehicle brandishing a black, semi-automatic handgun and said, "Give me all your money," at which time the attendant gave him $60 from his left pocket and an undetermined amount from his right pocket.
The thief got back into the rear seat of the car and the pair drove off east on Avenue D towards Rockaway Parkway, police said.
The men were only described as black, with one wearing a black hood and a bandana. The car was described as "small and red."
Detectives said they weren't sure whether the robbers were those involved in the other recent holdups, especially because the thieves in this case were in a car.
