Brooklyn Cyclones Salute Area Troops At KeySpan Park

The Brooklyn Cyclones held an all-day event last week to honor American troops on "Military Night."

Scores of soldiers from every branch of the U.S. military station in the tri-state area faced off against one another in a "Calling All Guards" competition at the Coney Island home of the New York Mets Single A minor league affiliate from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in a series of athletic drills.

The event was sponsored by a non-profit health group that delivers comprehensive healthcare benefits to thousands of local military families.

Following the competition, all the teams were honored in a pre-game ceremony before the Cyclones played the Oneonta Tigers at 7 p.m.
