Maisel Secures Funding For Local Community Groups

Assemblyman Alan Maisel recently announced that he had allocated $400,000 to local civic and community groups in New York State Assembly Community Capital Grants.

Community Capital Grant funds are allocated to groups or organizations that wish to improve their physical facilities.

Maisel said, "I am very pleased to have secured these grants to groups in my district. This money will make it possible for our neighborhood organizations to provide better services for community residents and to improve our quality of life."

The grants include $250,000 to begin the installation of security cameras at the BayView Houses; $50,000 to the Canarsie Adolescent Recreation Program, on Paerdegat Avenue North; which promotes boating safety and other recreational activities for our area's youth; $50,000 for the Hebrew Educational Society on East 95th Street and Seaview Avenue to improve gym facilities, and $50,000 to the Carlos Lezama Caribbean Cultural Center that will go toward the purchase of their new building.

Sylvia Whiteside, president of the BayView Resident's Association said, "We are very grateful to Assemblyman Maisel for his continued support of BayView.

This money will go a long way towards assuring the safety of our residents."
