What's Your Opinion?

Compiled by Bill O'Neill

Question: Teachers and administrators heading back to school were shocked when they learned that the city is reducing the number of parking permits for them by 82%, when city officials found that the number exceeded spaces six to one. Do you think this is fair? Why or why not?

"That's not helping the children and that's not helping the teachers and administrators. They should make things easier for teachers, not harder." Barbara Tajaros, Canarsie
"I believe that would be unfair. Not everybody uses public transportation, so people need enough space to park their cars." Sharon Warren, Canarsie
"I don't think it's fair. First of all, teachers don't make enough money as it is. They are heading back to school, which is a positive thing — and then they have to face reduced parking spaces, which is negative. It's not fair." Kareem Capehart, Canarsie
"I guess I don't think it's fair. Teachers deserve a lot of credit for what they do — helping children. They should have more benefits given to them instead of taken away." Johnny Garcia, Park Slope
