Question: Governor Paterson gave an order last week that directed all state agencies to provide the same rights to gay couples who have been married elsewhere as they do to straight couples. What are your thoughts on the subject?
|"I don't agree with the Governor because gay couples show a bad example to the kids. In New York state, gay couples shouldn't have the same rights as straight couples,"
- Billy Williams, Canarsie"Gay couples should have the same rights as other couples because they are people, too. It was okayed in California and other states. If somebody loves someone and they are married - whatever sex they are - I think they should have the same rights by the government. The church doesn't see things the same as the government of the United States."
- Geraldine Miller, Manhattan"I don't mind. To each their own. Marriage is marriage - gay or not. You have to be openminded. Gay couples should have the same rights."
- Courtney White, Canarsie"It's about time!"
