In addition to the Three Rs, students at John Wilson I.S. 211 learned about proper nutrition during a recent two-day "Eat Healthy Day" program, which taught them that eating healthy doesn't limit a diet to bland foods and vegetables.
Members of the P.S. 115 Glee Club recently entertained residents at the Four Seasons Rehabilitation Center at 1555 Rockaway Parkway. The seniors warmly greeted the students and were awed by their talents.
The Drama Club at P.S. 279 brought a classic Broadway production to the school's auditorium last week as it staged a performance of the musical comedy, "Bye Bye Birdie." The adaptation, supervised by teachers Lynne Cohen and Ronnie Falkowitz, took a few liberties to bring the plot up to date, including the look of the title character as a cross between Elvis Presley and rapper Flavor Flav (at right). Furthermore, the characters recited the script completely in rhyme and sang charming renditions of songs made popular by such diverse artists as Kelly Clarkson, Bob Marke and The Supremes.
