Assemblyman Prods D.O.T. For Local Street Repairs

Assemblyman Alan MaiselAssemblyman Alan Maisel Assemblyman Alan Maisel this week wrote to Sadik-Kahn, the New York City Commissioner of the Department of Transportation, pointing out to her the many streets in Canarsie that are in desperate need of repair.

The two-term legislator noted that he and members of his staff inspected many of the streets and found them in poor condition.

Maisel said that Flatlands Avenue, between Ralph Avenue and East 108th Street, was the most egregious.

"Flatlands Avenue, being the main thoroughfare to enter or leave Canarsie, should not be in the deplorable condition that it is in," Maisel said.

He also identified the following locations that he said require immediate repaving:

•E. 93rd St. between Skidmore Avenue & Seaview Avenue

•Avenue K between East 84th Street and East 87th Street

•Paerdegat North from Flatlands Avenue to Seaview Avenue

•East 92nd Street between Flatlands Avenue and Conklin Avenue

•East 80th Street between Flatlands Avenue and Avenue K

•Avenue K between Rockaway Parkway and East 95th Street

•East 101st Street between Avenue N and Seaview Avenue

•Seaview Avenue between East 99th Street and East 100th Street

•Intersection of Canarsie Road/Skidmore Avenue and St. Jude Place

Maisel is asking area residents to help identify streets that may need resurfacing by contacting his district office at 1-718-968-2770 with the locations.
