Fillmore Avenue L's Mentees Make The Grade
For a number of years, Fillmore Avenue L's Mentor Program has provided new agents with the necessary tools needed to succeed in the real estate business. Last Thursday, March 13, mentees were awarded at the office at 9317 Avenue L for completing the program.
Vice President Jean Paul Ho, creator of the Mentor Program, said, "We need to put the right agents on site, so it's important to teach them how to work smart - not just hard."
Principles of the program include marketing, advertising and closing stra-tegies, psychology of sales, time management and appraisals.
"There are twenty questions new agents have to answer and certain criteria have to be met," said Ho. "Com-pletion of the program depends on how fast the agent is able to complete all the tasks. That could take anywhere from one to six months."
Ho also said the Mentor Program is similar to a big brother/big sister relationship. "It's great because experienced agents are on top of them, teaching them and helping them build a reputation for themselves. We want to show mentees that this profession isn't a fly-by-night career. Knowledge is priceless and there's more to getting an education in real estate than sitting by a desk with a phone."
