Cops Search For Suspect In Breukelen Shooting
Police from the 69th Precinct are looking for a lone gunman who pumped four bullets a Breukelen Houses resident standing in the courtyard of his building last Friday. The gunman quickly walked away, leaving the victim for dead. According to officials of the local detective squad, the shooting occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Full Story
Sampson Urges Public To Take Advantage Of Water Bill "Deals"
The City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has proposed the Payment Incentive Plan aimed at assisting individuals with overdue bills. Although, homeowners have until February 21 (today) to sign up for an affordable payment plan, Senator John Sampson urges constituents to call the DEP at 1-718-595-7000 for other payment arrangements that they may have available. The first annual Negro History Week was celebrated during the second week in February, 1926 to coincide with the birthdays of abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. Governor Eliot Spitzer recently announced that additional emergency home heating assistance is available to New York's most vulnerable residents, in response to rising energy costs. Former Canarsie H.S. Student Is Recent Graduate From Army Basic Training
Army Pvt. Tianna M. Proctor has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony.
