What's Your Opinion?
Compiled by Bill O'Neill

Question: Last month, the City Council established regulations prohibiting the use of government or campaign funds by its members on congratulatory, seasonal or commemorative ads. Briefly, why do you agree or disagree?

"If you want to advertise something for your own political purposes, you should use your own money - not advertise using the public's money." - Christine Stewart, Canarsie
"My opinion is that we don't know exactly what the government does with our money. And we don't know what they do with advertising money either. So I agree with the City Council - prohibit the use of government or campaign funds." - Nick Sicurella, Canarsie
"I'm against the use of government funds. The campaign funds, however, I don't see anything wrong with that. If they have surplus campaign funds, why not use it to advertise? - Eric Perez, Starrett City
"I agree with the City Council. I don't see why the public should have to pay for something a politician wants. It's not fair. Politicians make a lot of money as it is." - Milagros Padilla, Canarsie
